Disgust
Eww! the emotion of aversion
Initially, a simple dislike spirals
Into an intense disgust when
One is identified with the aversion
The other face of pleasure
Disgust is an ascetic response
To the trap of material pleasure
Further trapping one within identity
Engendering so called ritual purity
Cocktailng itself with anger
Disgust breeds dangerous hatred
Premised on self sanctified morality
Slowly, the victim turns oppressor
Where even devoted love is refracted
Into a Sicialian vengeance
Reflecting outwards as a Nazi presence
But if one can invert the
Subverted Swastika within
Where the heavily soiled mirror
Of one’s identity prevails
Disgust becomes a highway
To the beyond, where aversion
Is turned into exploration
Where the origin of disgust
Is understood as the survival mechanism
Of the organism rather than
Constructions of the identifying mind
Thus, one realises that the disgust in life
Is due to the primordial fear of death
Where there is absolute inclusivity
In contrast to life where exclusivity
Is the rule and not the exception
But one conjures chimeras of inclusiveness
Demonstrating the grip of death on life
Which is simply Life’s other side
Ah! quantum continuity!
Alas! The identifying mind divides the two
In it’s ignorance snowballing this entire
Tragic play of oppressor and victim
In actuality, a comedy of epic proportion
On awakening to this, my animal disgust
Transforms into a human compassion
Where ‘my’ suffering is experienced
As a human suffering
Where there is no space
For a particular disgust
But only a universal compassion
Which becomes possible
When the “me” is worn
Lightly like a dhoti
Beneath which lies
The nakedness of the organism
Where pure throbbing life is
Sieved from the constructions of mind
As the risque nudity invites the luminosity
Of that real non existent shoonya
Here is my shoutout to the really talented poetic therapy for this beautiful poem
